Gilbarco Autotank is a subsidiary of Gilbarco Veeder-Root and the market leader in Scandinavia for fuel retail technology and payment solution services with strong sales channel into Eastern Europe.

The target of this project was to develop flexpays to be more sophisticated, more ergonomic and cheaper to manufacture than the present flexpays. The project was started together with the customer by defining the features of the product and the special needs of the customer. Water proof, corrosion proof, change of temperature proof, service ability and ensuring the locking were important features to be considered.

Elmo Design Ltd completely redesigned the flexpay still benefiting components designed previously. During the project the customer used several services of Elmo Design Ltd including industrial design with ergonomic study, mechanical design and project management. One of the most important phases of project management was the guidance in the production of proto series and acquisition of materials. The final flexpay based on less parts than older model and the manufacturing process became easier among other things by enabling robotics. The results of our work can be seen in almost every fuel station.
